Dear listeners, RRI invited you to another contest testing your knowledge of Romania, entitled Legends of Buzau. This was a contest about an area in the southern part of Romania, which locals proudly refer to as Little Romania, due to the great diversity of its landscape. It is a picturesque area, full of legends recalling the times of yore, which you could discover throughout our contest.
We have received 388 correct answers to the questions of our contest. We thank you very much for your interest and invite you to also participate in other RRI contests. As you may know there’s an on-going contest this time devoted to the county of Brasov.
The contest about Buzau County was organised with the support of sponsors and partners, to whom we thank once again. The prizes are courtesy of ‘Casa cu Tei’ guesthouse in Sarata Monteoru, the ‘Casa Matei’ guesthouse in Berca, the ‘Tata Lice’ guesthouse in Chiojdu, and the ‘Varlaam’ guesthouse in the village of the same name.
We have two grand prizes available, two trips for two, for eight nights, with full board in several guesthouses in Buzau county, early in the summer of 2010. The trips are between May 29th– June 6th, and between June 5th and June 14th.
We also have several prizes, gifts from Buzau, for the winners of lesser prizes, courtesy of our partners and sponsors in Buzau. Rune Berg of Norway gave us his reason to participate in RRI’s contest; his message is extremely relevant to the present:
“I am always motivated on competitions and am also very interested in places where nature gives extraordinary experiences. I have for instance been to Iceland and had a bath in the hot water there…and seen the small volcanoes there. When I read about the landscape of Buzau, I was very excited ….It’s not many places left in Europe like this. I hope I will be able to go there one day!”
Anyway we ensure you that the muddy volcanoes of Berca, one of the Buzau attractions, are not at all dangerous!

“In 1999, it was the first time ever I contacted the English Service of RRI and this process continues. Taking part in quiz competition of SW Radio Stations is one of my favourite hobbies. The thing which motivates me to take part in this competition as follow :- (i) First of all testing luck. (ii) If I win the contest then first time ever I will be able to see the heart of Europe "Romania”. This is the message of Nasir Aziz from Pakistan. Even if he did not win the Grand Prize he came within an inch of winning it.
