On Friday, two Romanian teams are playing their first matches in the Champions League. In Group A, HCM Baia Mare is playing Krim Mercator Ljubljana of Slovenia away from home. In Group D, CSM Bucharest is playing MKS Selgros Lublin of Poland at home.
Now, a look ahead at the matches counting towards the 14th round of the Romanian First League, which will be played this weekend. On Friday, FC Botosani will play Universitatea Craiova. On Saturday, CSMS Iasi will receive visiting side FC voluntary. Dinamo Bucharest is playing ASA Targu Mures on home turf. On Sunday, in Chiajna, the local side Concordia will take on Astra Giurgiu, while Petrolul Ploiesti will go up against Steaua Bucharest. On Monday, Pandurii Targu Jiu will play visitors from Poli Timisoara. The match will be played on the rented stadium in Drobeta Turnu Severin. In the round’s last match, also on Sunday, CFR Cluj will try to make up for its under par performances this season with a win against Viitorul Constanta on home turf.
Astra Giurgiu tops the league tables at present, with 27 points, followed by Steaua Bucharest with 25 points. Ranking 3rd and 4th are Viitorul Constanta and Pandurii Targu Jiu respectively, each with 23 points, although the team from Constanta has a better goal average.
