Die H\u00f6hle hat eine L\u00e4nge von 300 Metern und ist f\u00fcr das breite Publikum nicht zug\u00e4nglich. Allein Wissenschaftler haben Zugang \u00fcber einen k\u00fcnstlichen Schacht, an dessen Ende sich die 1-2 Meter hohen, teilweise unter Wasser stehenden Galerien der H\u00f6hle befinden.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Was die wissenschaftliche Welt von Anfang an erstaunt hat, ist das einzigartige \u00d6kosystem der H\u00f6hle, das v\u00f6llig isoliert von der Au\u200e\u00dfenwelt ist. Die unterirdische Welt der H\u00f6hle ist reich an Schwefelwasserstoff, Sauerstoff ist kaum vorhanden, hingegen wurde eine hohe Konzentration von Kohlendioxid (3,5%) und Methan (1-2%) gemessen. Die Erforschung durch rum\u00e4nische Spel\u00e4ologen Anfang der 1990er Jahre hat zur Entdeckung bis dahin unbekannter Arten von Schnecken, W\u00fcrmern, Spinnen, Blutegeln und Skorpionen gef\u00fchrt, die in diesem Habitat leben, das f\u00fcr andere Tiere t\u00f6dlich w\u00e4re. Auch das Wasser in der H\u00f6hle hat eine andere chemische Zusammensetzung als jenes der Brunnen in der N\u00e4he. Das schwefelhaltige Wasser kommt aus den Tiefen der Erde durch geschlossene Karstkan\u00e4le empor und misst 21 Grad Celsius. Die wirbellosen Tiere, die hier leben, weisen eine Depigmentierung (einen Verlust des Hautfarbstoffs) auf und haben auch kein Sehverm\u00f6gen. Sie ern\u00e4hren sich von Bakterien und Pilzen, die ihrerseits ihre Lebenskraft aus den warmen Schwefelquellen sch\u00f6pfen.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Die Entdeckung dieses \u00d6kosystems, das auf Chemosynthese, und nicht auf Photosynthese basiert, hat die Aufmerksamkeit der Forscher von der amerikanischen Raumfahrtbeh\u00f6rde NASA erwirkt. Die US-Wissenschaftler verglichen die Lebensbedingungen in dieser H\u00f6hle mit jenen auf dem Planeten Mars. Die Movile-H\u00f6hle inspirierte auch den Regisseur Bruce Hunt, der seinen Horror-Film <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0402901\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Cave\u201c<\/a> (2005) teils in Rum\u00e4nien und mit rum\u00e4nischen Schauspielern in einigen Nebenrollen drehte.
