Mit ihren 90 m H\u00f6he ist sie ein Wahrzeichen der Stadt und Metropolitankirche des Banats, d.h. Hauptkirche der \u00f6rtlichen orthodoxen Metropolie. Die Kathedrale wurde 1936 bis 1941 nach Pl\u00e4nen des Architekten Ioan Traianescu errichtet und erst nach dem Krieg eingeweiht; der Einweihungmesse am 6. Oktober 1946 wohnte auch der rum\u00e4nische K\u00f6nig <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_I._(Rum%C3%A4nien)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael I.<\/a> bei.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Die sieben Glocken der Kirche wurden im Jahr 1938 priesterlich geweiht, das Stimmen des Gel\u00e4uts ist dem rum\u00e4nischen Komponisten Sabin Dr\u0103goi zu verdanken, einem Sohn des Banats, der jahrzehntelang in Temeswar als Professor und Dirigent wirkte. Die Innen- und Au\u200e\u00dfenmalerei realisierte Atanasie Demian und sie wurde erst 1956 fertiggestellt.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Die Architektur der Temeswarer Metropolitankathedrale weist Einfl\u00fcsse aus dem byzantinischen und moldauischen Stil auf. Der offene Vorraum wird von sechs Marmors\u00e4ulen gest\u00fctzt, der Eingang in die Kirche erfolgt durch das Hauptportal aus drei massiven, mit Schnitzereien verzierten Holztoren, aber auch durch die beiden Seitenportale. Bei Gottesdiensten kann die Kathedrale bis zu 5000 Menschen aufnehmen.
