PROTEST Trade unionists from the Sanitas Federations are today picketing the Labour Ministry in Bucharest and have announced street protests on June 3. They are categorically rejecting the draft of the new unified salary law, which they consider \u2018inequitable, incomplete and profoundly unfavourable for the employees in the public systems of healthcare and social assistance.\u2019 Unionists say that payment will be capped or even trimmed for more than half of the employees. In the meantime, talks are underway at the Labour Ministry on the new unified salary law.<\/p>\n
VISIT Romania\u2019s interim Prime Minister, Ilie Bolojan, will be paying a formal visit to the neighbouring Republic of Moldova on Friday. His agenda includes talks with the country\u2019s president Maia Sandu and with the head of the government in Chisinau, Alexandru Munteanu. According to the same sources, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bucharest was summoned to the Ministry regarding this topic and the Romanian side reiterated that no press release or social media post suspends the legal obligations of the Russian Federation, including those concerning compliance with international law\u201d. Several European countries on Tuesday summoned the Russian diplomats over threats against foreign diplomats in Kyiv, ahead of fresh airstrikes. A spokesperson for the European Union has denounced an \u2018unacceptable escalation\u2019 and has given assurances the EU delegation will remain in the capital of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
TENNIS the Romanian tennis player Sorana C\u00eerstea has qualified for the third round of the Grand Slam tournament of Roland Garros after a two-set win against Eva Lys of Germany in two sets. C\u00eerstea, 36, who is ranking 18th in the world standings won the match in less than one hour and she will be playing Argentinean Solana Sierra, in the round of 16. Sierra comes after a win against 13th-seeded Jasmine Paolini of Italy.<\/p>\n
