\nROMANIA<\/strong> In Romania, the number of coronavirus infections has reached 2,245. Of those
\ninfected, 600 are in Suceava, in the north-east. Among the confirmed cases, 285
\nare medical staff. 220 people have been cured in the meantime. According to the
\nStrategic Communication Group, there are some 11,500 people in quarantine, and
\n125 thousand in isolation. 78 people have died of Covid-19 in Romania so far. <\/p>\n

\nLudovic Orban and other members of the Government held an assessment meeting on
\nTuesday. Iohannis conveyed a message of encouragement to all Romanian doctors,
\nwho are the most exposed in the fight against Covid-19. Also, he sent a message
\nto the inhabitants of Suceava, which are in full quarantine as of Monday, assuring
\nthem that all they need will be provided. According to military decree no.6,
\nall access ways to and out of the city are secured by army and police. Several other
\nrestrictive measures have been taken for the city of Suceava and another 8
\nvillages around it, because more than a quarter of the confirmed cases of
\ninfection were reported there. Also on Monday night, military decree no.5 was
\nissued, which extends the measure to suspend flights between Spain and Romania
\nfor another 14 days, as of March 31st, and also to and from Italy,
\nstarting April 6th, also for 14 days. <\/p>\n

\nauthorized natural persons and other categories of staff can submit the
\nnecessary papers to request furlough benefits, in the context of the Covid-19
\npandemic. Labour Minister Violeta Alexandru has mentioned a few things about
\nthe two decrees that regulate this field. The state will provide 75% of the
\naverage gross salary, which is a maximum of 475 Euro. The amount is granted
\nonly during the state of emergency. Athletes too can get such benefits. All papers
\nwill be submitted online. <\/p>\n

\nepidemiological crisis triggered by the new coronavirus and means of

\nmeasures adopted by the Romanian authorities to identify and treat people with
\nCovid-19, and also to prevent the spreading of the new coronavirus. Also, the
\ntwo stressed the close friendship between their countries, based on common
\ninterests. Against this background, president Ioahnnis invited again his
\nIsraeli counterpart to pay a visit to Romania, when the current crisis has
\nended, and Reuven Rivlin accepted the invitation. <\/p>\n

\nBecause of the Covid-19 pandemic, Fitch Ratings has given a negative opinion on
\nthe prospects for the banking sector in central and eastern Europe, which
\ncovers the markets in Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Romania and
\nSlovenia. According to news agencies, Fitch has revised its opinion from stable
\nto negative. <\/p>\n

\nRomanian military ship ‘Vice-Admiral Constantin Balescu’ is in the
\nMediterranean Sea halfway through its mission of maintaining NATO’s reaction
\ncapability on the south-eastern flank. Since January, the ship has commanded
\nthe Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 and successfully executed a fictional
\nscenario for the protection of Crete Island. Romanian sailors placed exercise
\nmines as an obstacle against a potential enemy’s amphibious landing of troops. Also,
\ntogether with the German mine sweeper Fulda, they simulated the creation of a corridor
