Romania romped home at the European Rowing Championships held in Varese, Italy last weekend. Athletes from Romania came first in the countries ranking with six gold medals, one silver and one bronze. \u00a0They were followed by their counterparts from Germany and Britain, who won five gold medals. In the women\u2019s double sculls race on Saturday, Simona Radi\u0219 and Adriana Adam set a new European record. They were followed by the crews of Czechia and Italy. The Romanians \u0218tefan Constantin Berariu and Florin Sorin Lehaci came first in the men\u2019s double sculls race, with Lithuania as a runner-up and Italy in the third place. A Romanian four made up of Cosmin Iulian Ple\u0219escu, Leontin Nu\u021bescu, Andrei Vatamaniuc and Ciprian Tudos\u0103 became silver medalist in a race won by Great Britain. On Saturday, FC Voluntari clinched a 1-0 home win against UTA, while Petrolul Ploiesti came a cropper at Universitatea Craiova, 4-0. Corvinul Hunedoara ended in a one-all draw their match against Sepsi Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe, while in Bucharest, local side, Rapid, obtained a 3-1 win against CFR Cluj. Monday will see two matches \u00a0Universitatea Cluj versus FC Boto\u0219ani and FCSB versus Farul Constan\u021ba.<\/p>\n
