OCDE Romania’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Bogdan
\nAurescu, hailed the completion of the roadmap for Romania’s OCDE accession during
\nhis Thursday’s participation in the Organisation’s Ministerial Council in
\nParis. According to a Foreign Ministry communiqu\u00e9, Romania’s firm commitment to
\ncompleting the domestic preparations for ensuring the best conditions for unfolding
\nthe OCDE accession talks has been highlighted by Aurescu in his speech during
\nthe meeting. Aurescu has also mentioned the main present challenges to the
\nobjectives assumed at global level concerning the environmental protection, the
\nCOVID-19 pandemic as well as the illegal war Russia is presently waging on
\nUkraine. The head of the Romanian diplomacy said that the Russian aggression
\nhas among effects a higher emphasis on the use of fossil fuels, the destruction
\nof the environment and marine ecosystems. On the sidelines of the event Aurescu
\nheld talks with his French counterpart Cathernie Colonna on the bilateral
\nrelations as well as topical issues at European and international levels with
\nemphasis on security and the multiple implications of the Russian invasion in

IMF Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca on
\nThursday received an IMF delegation currently on an annual assessment mission
\nin Romania. On the occasion of celebrating this year 50 years of IMF
\nmembership, Ciuca thanked the IMF representatives for the technical and
\nfinancial assistance Romania has benefitted in all these years. According to a
\ncommuniqu\u00e9, Ciuca appreciated the positive IMF assessments and the counseling in
\nthe field of fiscal policies with a view to curbing deficits and ensuring a
\nhealthy economic growth against the difficult background caused by the latest
\ncrises at European and international levels. Ciuca presented the governmental
\nmeasures aimed at providing support for both the economy and the vulnerable
\ncitizens affected by the latest price hikes. In turn, the IMF representatives
\nappreciated the Romanian authorities’ efforts to keep inflation and deficits at
\nbay.<\/p>\n

DEFICIT Romania’s trade balance deficit stood at around 10 billion Euros
\nin the first four months of this year, by almost 3 billion Euros more than the
\none registered between January 1st and April 30th, 2021, according to data made
\npublic today by the National Institute of Statistics. In April 2022 exports totaled
\n6.886 billion euro and imports 9.711 billion euro.<\/p>\n
