Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), a symbol of stability, after 70 years on the British throne, has died, peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Elizabeth’s eldest son, Charles, 73, automatically becomes king of the United Kingdom and the head of state of 14 other realms. <\/p>\n
The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow, Buckingham Palace also announces in a statement. <\/p>\n
