\nthan 160,000 8th year graduates on Monday began the national
\nevaluation exams with the written test in the Romanian language and literature.
\nOn Wednesday, pupils will take the mathematics exam, while pupils of ethnic
\nminority groups will take their mother tongue test on Thursday. As of this year,
\nthe national evaluation results alone will be taken into account for admission
\nto high school. The registration period for the national evaluation and the
\nbaccalaureate exams has been extended this year, because of teachers’ general
\nstrike. The protest lasted three weeks and was suspended after the government
\nmet their salary demands.<\/p>\n

\nfirst meeting of the two-party government coalition took place on Monday,
\nbetween the Social Democratic Party and the National Liberal Party. A timetable
\nwas agreed for passing a bill on the elimination of special pensions. The bill
\nis important under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, on which the
\ngranting of European funds depends. According to the timetable, Parliament
\nwould meet on 26th June to pass the bill eliminating special
\npensions for MPs; the following week, the Chamber of Deputies would also pass
\nthe bill on the elimination of special pensions for other categories, which has
\nalready been adopted by the Senate. Also on Monday, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu,
\nthe speaker of the Senate Nicolae
\nCiuc\u0103 and the governor of the National Bank of Romania Mugur Is\u0103rescu discussed
\nan action plan to meet the 4.4% deficit target, reduce the inflation rate to 8%
\nand ensure investments worth 250 billion lei. <\/p>\n

\nand eastern Europe, including Romania, will benefit from the relocation of
\nproduction activities from remote markets, such as those in Asia, closer to
\nconsumers, according to a report by a real estate consultancy firm. The reasons
\nfor this are mainly the significantly lower costs compared with western Europe,
\nespecially with respect to labour. The key sectors that have chosen this area
\nof Europe are car industry, electric and electronic equipment and products, as
\nwell as consumer goods and textiles.<\/p>\n

\nwill be subordinated to the National Agency for the Roma. Creating the museum

\nManea, an MP with the Group of Ethnic Minorities. He recalled that the Roma
\nslavery in Romania lasted for half a millennium, from 1385 until 1856. <\/p>\n

\nRadio Drama Festival has got under way in Bucharest. Organised by Radio Romania
\nunder the High Patronage of Her Majesty Margareta, the Custodian of the Crown
\nof Romania, the festival brings together 27 productions from 12 different countries,
