Andrei Paul Ar\u0103doaie won the bronze
\nin the 86-kilo category of the European Boxing Championships concluded this
\nweekend in Yerevan, Armenia. This is the first medal for a Romanian fighter in
\na European senior competition since 2015. The other 2 Romanians who took part
\nin the championships in Yerevan, Emanuel Constantin Mican, in the 92-kilo category
\nand R\u0103zvan Cristian Filip, in the 92+ kilo category, had left the competition

In the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup
\nheld over the weekend in Poznan, Poland, the Romanian canoeist C\u0103t\u0103lin Chiril\u0103 won
\n2 silver medals on Sunday, in the 500m and 1,000 m races. He also came out 4th
\nin the 5,000m final. In the women’s competition, M\u0103lina Trifescu failed to
\nqualify in the 500m and 200m kayaking finals.<\/p>\n

Rapid Bucharest is Romania’s new
\nwomen’s handball champion. In the last leg of the National League, Rapid won
\naway from home, 35 to 27 against SCM R\u00e2mnicu V\u00e2lcea. The vice-champions are CSM
\nBucharest, who came only 1 point behind Rapid in the final rankings. <\/p>\n

The national football championship
\nalso came to a close on Sunday, with the second leg of the playoff round that
\ndecided who stays and who qualifies into League 1. Chindia T\u00e2rgovi\u015fte will
\ncontinue to play in League One, after defeating Concordia Chiajna in Ploie\u015fti, 4-1
\nin the penalty shootouts. In the first round, Concordia had won 2-1. Universitatea
\nCluj is the team that will move up to Romania’s top football league next season,
\nafter a draw against Dinamo Bucharest and 2-0 in the first leg of the playoffs.
\nThey will join Petrolul Ploie\u015fti and FC Hermannstadt, who have also been promoted
\nto League One. Dinamo is relegated to the second league for the first time

For the 5th consecutive
\ntime and for the 8th time in their history, CFR Cluj are Romania’s
\nfootball champions and they will play in the Champions’ League qualifiers. In turn,
\nthe 2nd and 3rd runners-up, FCSB and Universitatea
\nCraiova, will play in the qualifiers of the Europa Conference League, along
\nwith Sepsi Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe, the winner of the Romanian football cup. Romania’s
