The
\n17th edition of the World Outdoor Athletics Championships kick-starts
\nin Qatar’s Doha on Friday, September 27. The Romanian delegation is made of ten
\nathletes. They are high-jump athlete Daniela Stanciu, long-jump athlete Florentina
\nIusco, Claudia Bobocea, a runner in the 1,500m race and Alin Firfirica, who
\nwill prove his mettle in the discus throw event. Joining them are Narcis
\nMihaila, who competes in the 50-kilometer race walk, shot-put athlete Andrei
\nGag, Andreea Panturoiu, who competes in the triple jump event, javelin thrower Alexandru
\nNovac and Bianca Ghelber, who will compete in the hammer throw event. The race
\nwalk and the marathon will be held during the night, because of the high
\ntemperature readings in Doha. For their most part, events will be venued by the
\nAl Khalifa stadium in Doha, which has air conditioning facilities. The World
\nOutdoor Athletics Championships will draw to a close on October 6th. <\/p>\n

A
\nComplete, 4-star International Competition is staged in Floresti, Prahova
\nCounty. For Romanian sports, it is an absolute first, since horses and jockeys
\nfrom all around the world return to Floresti, for an event which is one-of-a-kind
\nin South-East Europe. The competition brings participants the required
\nqualification points ahead of the 2020 edition of the Olympics, to be held in
\nJapan<\/p>\n

Romanian
\nCup in football’s round of 16 drew to a close on Thursday. Fourteen League One
\nteams took part in the competition. FCSB grabbed a 2-nil win against
\nSecond-league team Mataloglobus Bucharest. The big surprise was provided by
\nThird-league team Sanatatea Cluj’s 1-nil win against holders Viitorul
\nConstanta. Second-league team Ripensia Timisoara sustained a 1-4 defeat by
\nSepsi Sfantu Gheorghe. Another Second league team, Rapid Bucharest sustained a nil-1
\ndefeat by Politehnica Iasi. Only ten League one teams have got through to the
\nround of 16. These teams are Dinamo Bucharest, Astra Giurgiu, Academica
\nClinceni, FC Voluntari, FC Hermannstadt, Universitatea Craiova, FC Boto\u015fani,
\nSepsi OSK Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe, Politehnica Ia\u015fi
\nand FCSB. Also qualifying for the Cup’s round of 16 were three Second
\nleague teams, Universitatea Cluj, Petrolul Ploie\u015fti and CS Mioveni, as well as
\nthree Third league teams, Foresta Suceava, Metalul Buz\u0103u and S\u0103n\u0103tatea Cluj.<\/p>\n

This
\ncoming weekend will see matches being played, counting towards the 11th-round
\nof the League One championship. On Friday night, Dinamo Bucharest faces FC
\nVoluntari. On Saturday, FC Hermannstadt Sibiu takes on FC Botosani, while
\nChindia Targoviste is pitted against Astra Giurgiu. On Sunday, Academica
\nClinceni face FCSB and CFR Cluj play Gaz Metan Medias. Round 11’s last two
\ngames are scheduled on Monday, when Politehnica Iasi is pitted against Sepsi
\nSfantu Gheorghe and Universitatea Craiova faces Viitorul Constanta.<\/p>\n
