Romania has been
\noutperformed 3-0 by the en-titre Olympic Champions France in Varna, Bulgaria,
\nin the quarterfinals of the European Volleyball Championships hosted by Israel,
\nItaly, Bulgaria and North Macedonia. France has thus had their revenge after
\nRomania’s 3-1 win in the group’s stage. <\/p>\n

\nprogress of Romania’s national volleyball side kicked off in group D with two
\ndefeats 0-3 against Portugal and 2-3 against Israel. The Romanians made a
\nstrong comeback though and defeated Turkey 3-2 and Greece 3-1. <\/p>\n

They also clinched a surprising 3-1 win against
\nFrance, which ended on the first position in the group’s ranking with 12
\npoints. France was followed by Portugal with 9, Romania also with 9, Turkey
\nwith 8, Israel 4 and Greece 3. The first four sides qualified for the round of
\n16 where Romania first took on Croatia. Our players secured a 3-2 win against
\nCroatia, the side on the second position in Group B. The Romanians were the
\nfirst to get the upper hand 2-0, but the Croatians managed to level the points
\nlater into the game. However Romania succeeded in winning the last set
\neventually. <\/p>\n

\nscored 30 points for Romania, while Petar Dirlic, 29 for the Croatian side. In
\nthe final ranking Romania went 7th. <\/p>\n

\nprevious edition of the aforementioned competition, hosted by France, Slovenia,
\nBelgium, and the Netherlands in 2019, Romania ranked 21st. Romania’s
\nprize closet includes a title in 1963, two silver medals in 1955 and 1958 and
\ntwo bronze in 1971 and 1977. <\/p>\n
