\nteam on Thursday advanced to the quarterfinals of the European Table Tennis
\nChampionships in Nantes, France, after defeating Spain 3-nil in the last Group
\n1 fixture. The defending champions prevailed through the individual wins of
\nBernadette Szocs, Elizabeta Samara and Daniela Dodean Monteiro. After defeating
\nSlovakia on Wednesday 3-nil, Romania is now top of the Group tables with 4
\npoints, followed by Spain with 3 points and Slovakia with 2 points. The
\nRomanian men’s table tennis team failed to move past the group phase, after
\nlosing to Sweden nil-3 on Thursday in the last Group 2 fixture. Sweden ranked
