Romanian football
\nteam CFR Cluj on Thursday sustained a nil-1 away defeat by Italy’s Lazio, counting
\ntowards Europa League’s group E. Lazio’s Argentinean footballer Joaguin Correa
\nsank CFR on 24 minutes. In Group E’s other fixture, Celtic Glasgow outclassed
\nFrench side Rennes, 3-1. One round ahead of the end of the group stage, Celtic have already secured their qualification,
\nwith 13 points. CFR are second-placed, with 9 points, while Lazio are 3rd-placed,
\nwith 6. Rennes are at the bottom of the table, with only one point. Everything
\nwill be settled in the last round, when CFR play a home game against Celtic,
\nwhile Lazio take on Rennes, away from home. Holders CFR need one point to
\nadvance to the European spring. A win will secure Lazio’s qualification, while
\na defeat for CFR will also pave the Italian team’s way to the European spring.<\/p>\n

This coming weekend
\nwill see matches being played, counting towards League One’s 18th round. On
\nFriday, Astra Giurgiu take on Gaz Metan Medias and Dinamo Bucharest play
\nPolitehnica Iasi. On Saturday, Sepsi Sfintu Gheorghe play a home match against
\nUniversitatea Craiova, while FC Voluntari face FCSB, also on home turf. In
\nPloiesti, in the south, Chindia Targoviste are pitted against Academica
\nClinceni on Sunday, and FC Hermannstadt go against CFR Cluj, also on Sunday.
\nRound 18th’s last match is scheduled on Monday, when FC Botosani
\nplay Viitorul Constanta. CFR Cluj are at the top of the table with 34 points,
\nfollowed by Viitorul Constanta, with 32.<\/p>\n

A new edition of the
\nWorld Women’s handball Championship kick-starts in Japan this coming Saturday.
\nRomania has been included in Group C, alongside Hungary, Montenegro, Spain,
\nSenegal and Kazakhstan. Romania’s debut game is the one against Spain,
\nscheduled on November 30 in Kumamoto. Romania’s record includes three world
\ntitles, in 1956, 1960 and 1962. There are also two silver medals on the record,
\nin the Championship’s 1973 and 2005 editions. Romanian national team’s most
\nrecent feat in a world championship is the bronze medal won in 2015, when at the
\nhelm of the team was Swedish head-coach Tomas Ryde, who is also the national
\nsquad’s head-coach at the moment. We recall Romania came in 10th at the 2017 edition of the World Championship.<\/p>\n
