The
\nInternational Weightlifting Federation issued a one-year suspension against the
\nRomanian Weightlifting Federation as a consequence of anti-doping violations. As
\na result, Romanian weightlifters will not be able to compete in the Tokyo
\nOlympics. The International Weightlifting Federation writes in a statement that the case against the
\nRomanian federation is grounded on five violations of the anti-doping rules
\ncommitted in 2012 by five different athletes, with anabolic steroids being
\ndetected in the athletes’ samples. Four violations were from the four athletes
\nrepresenting Romania at the London Olympic Games in 2012, namely Florin Croitoru, Gabriel S\u00eencr\u0103ian, R\u0103zvan
\nMartin and Roxana Coco\u015f. The findings were reported in 2019 as part of the re-analysis
\nprogramme carried out by the International Olympic Committee. The ban can be
\nappealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The International Weightlifting
\nFederation has already suspended three other national federations, namely of
\nThailand, Egypt and Malaysia. <\/p>\n

In the fourth match of the men’s basketball National League final, CSM CSU Oradea on Thursday defeated U-BT
\nCluj-Napoca 64-60, with the two sides now being on equal points in the general
\nclassification. Oradea had won a second home match on 15th June,
\n75-71, while Cluj-Napoca had won the first two matches of the final at home, 73-62
\nand 103-80. The final is played in the best-of-five format, with the decisive
\nmatch to be held on Sunday in Cluj. <\/p>\n

Four of the
\nseven Romanian athletes who have qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games will be
\ncompeting in the European Team Athletics Championships 1st League hosted by Cluj Napoca on
\nSaturday and Sunday. They are Florentina Iu\u015fco in the long jump, Daniela Stanciu in the high jump, Alin
\nFirfiric\u0103 in the discus throw and Rare\u015f Andrei Toader in the shot put. The competition
\nheld in Cluj Napoca takes place ten days before the list of athletes qualified
