Romanian women’s handball side CSM Bucharest on Saturday secured a 32-27
\nwin against Russian side CSKA Moscow in the first round of the Champions
\nLeague’s quarter finals. The best players of the Romanian side were Cristina
\nNeagu and Slovenian Barbara Lazovic, each with 6 goals scored. The goal-keeper
\nof the Bucharest side, Croatian Jelena Grubisic, also put up a good show saving
\n12 goals, which means 32% of the shots. The return game is due in Moscow on April

\nMare managed to qualify for the semifinals after a double win against Dun\u0103rea
\nBr\u0103ila. In the first round, a week ago, Minaur secured a 31 – 24 away win. During
\nthe home match Minaur won 27 – 25, Serbian player Jovana Kovacevic managed to

Athletes from Romania
\nwalked away with three gold medals, four silver and one bronze from the
\nEuropean Weightlifting Championships in Moscow. Monica Csengeri became gold
\nmedalist in the 49 de kilogram category. She won the snatch contest with 86 kg,
\nafter two failed attempts at 90. She also compelled international recognition
\nin the clean & jerk where she managed 103 kg, and won the total with 189
\nkg.<\/p>\n

Last weekend saw the
\ngames counting towards the 29th leg of Romania’s first football
\nleague, the last but one of the regular season. On Friday in Clinceni, local
\nside Academica secured a 2-1 win against Poli Ia\u0219i and the game pitching Gaz
\nMetan Media\u0219 against Astra Giurgiu ended in a goaless draw. On Saturday, FC
\nHermannstadt clinched a 4-1 win against FC Arge\u0219, in a match held in Media\u0219,

Sunday saw three games; FC Boto\u0219ani obtained a 1-0 home win against Viitorul
\nConstan\u021ba, while UTA, also at home, outperformed Sepsi Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe 2-0. FCSB
\nand Universitatea Craiova ended in a goaless draw their game in Giurgiu,
\nsouthern Romania. Chindia T\u00e2rgovi\u0219te is up against FC Voluntari while CFR Cluj takes
\non Dinamo Bucure\u0219ti in the leg’s last two games on Monday. FCSB ranks first in
\nthe standings with 64 points, followed by CFR with 60 and Craiova with 57.<\/p>\n
