Unfortunately the sides representing
\nRomania in the European women’s handball competitions managed only lackluster
\nshows last week. In a Champions League game, Romania’s champion CSM Bucharest
\nwas up against ETO Gyor, the defending champions of Europe and Hungary. The
\nHungarian side secured a clear win 36-27 against the Romanians but it’s also
\nworth mentioning that it was a Romanian to make the difference for Gyor. Crina
\nPintea, the pivot of the Romanian national team, scored nine times for the
\nHungarian side. The best scorer of the Romanian team was Serbian Andrea Lekic,
\nwho scored 8 times. Gyor comes first in the group with 10 points, followed by Vipers
\nKristiansand and CSM Bucharest, each with 6 points, Ferencvaros Budapest with
\n4, Krim Ljubljana with 3 and Thuringer with one point. CSM will take on Krim
\nLjubljana in a home match on February 2nd. <\/p>\n

Also on Saturday, Romanian side
\nMagura Cisnadie lost at home to Norwegian team Storhamar 28-23, in the EHF’s
\ngroup A. Magura has so far lost all the four games it played in the group. Ada
\nMoldovan and Montenegrin Jasna Boljevic were the best scorers of the Romanian
\nside against the Norwegians. Magura ranks last in the group with no points and
\nis expected to take on the group’s leader Team Esbjerg of Denmark on the third
\nof February. <\/p>\n

Neither was trophy holder SCM
\nCraiova able to avoid defeat in the EHF Cup. The Romanians lost to the
\nCroatians from Podravka Koprivnica 18 – 23, who thus kept their first position
\nin group D. Maria Andreea Ianasi and Serbian Jelena Trifunovic were SCM’s best
\nscorers, each with four goals. SCM will be playing their next game away against
\nDanish side Nykobing on February 3rd. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
