\nrowing. Romania won six medals at the European Rowing Championships that came
\nto an end on Sunday in the Swiss city of Lucerne. Of these six medals, one was
\ngold, four silver and one bronze. The gold medal was awarded to Romania’s women’s
\neight, made up of Cristina-Georgiana Popescu, Amalia Beres, Madalina-Gabriela
\nCasu, Roxana Parascanu, Beatrice-Madalina Parfenie, Iuliana Popa, Maria-Magdalena
\nRusu, Roxana-Iuliana Anghel and Daniela Druncea as cox. They thus successfully
\ndefended their continental title. The silver went to the men’s pair, formed by
\nthe world vice-champions Ciprian Tudosa and Marius Cozmiuc, who ranked third
\nlast year, and the women’s pair, formed by Adriana Ailincai and Maria
\nTivodariu, the 2017 world junior champions. Two other silver medals were
\nawarded to the women’s four – made up of Ioana Vranceanu, Viviana Bejinariu,
\nMadalina Beres and Denisa Tilvescu – and the women’s double sculls formed by Ancuta
\nNicoleta Bondar and Simona Radis. In the men’s double sculls, last year’s
\nEuropean vice-champions Marian Florin Enache and Ionut Prundeanu ranked third,
\nwinning the bronze medal. Romania thus ranked fourth in the overall medal
\nstanding, behind Germany, Holland and Italy.<\/p>\n

\nhandball, Angola won the Carpati Trophy in women’s handball. The competition,
\nwhich is now in its 51st year, took place in the Romanian city of
\nBraila. In the final match, Angola drew 21-all with Romania’s first team, but
\nranked first in the general standing thanks to a better goal average. Japan
\nranked third and Romania’s second team fourth.<\/p>\n

\nnews from basketball. In the third match of the Romanian men’s National League
\nfinal, CSU Sibiu defeated the defending champions CSM CSU Oradea 71-64 away.
\nSibiu won their first victory in the final after losing both of their home
\nmatches. The final’s fourth match will be held on Tuesday in Oradea. The final

\nfootball. The 2018-2019 first league championship has come to an end. On Friday
\nin the final Group 2 leg, FC Botosani defeated Poli Iasi 2-nil away, while
\nDinamo Bucharest and FC Voluntari drew nil-all in Bucharest. On Sunday, FC
\nHermannstadt defeated Dunarea Calarasi 2-1 at home, and Gaz Metan Medias
\ndefeated Concordia Chiajna 3-1 in Medias. Concordia Chiajna and Dunarea
\nCalarasi will relegate, while FC Hermannstadt will go into play-offs with
\nUniversitatea Cluj, the side ranking third in the second league. Chindia
\nTargoviste and Academica Clinceni have promoted to the first league. CFR Cluj
