Romania won two medals in fencing
\nat the Summer Universiade underway in Naples, Italy. Razvan Ursachi won bronze
\nin the men’s sabre event, after losing in the semi-finals to Germany’s Frederic
\nKindler, 15-10. Previously, Uraschi had ousted Dario Cavaliere of Italy in the
\nround of 16, 15-14, and Mikheil Mardaleishvili of Georgia in the quarterfinals,
\n15-14. The gold went to Oh Sanguk of South Korea, while Frederic Kindler won
\nsilver. Malina Calugareanu won bronze in the women’s epee event. In the round
\nof 32, Calugareanu defeated Poland’s Renata Tomczak, 15-9, in the round of 16
\nshe knocked out another Romanian, Maria Boldor, 15-8, and in the quarterfinals
\nshe ousted Italy’s Martina Sinigalia, 15-11. In the semis, Calugareanu lost to
\nErica Cipressi of Italy, who went on to win the event after defeating Morgane
\nPatru of France 15-3 in the final. Romania is represented by 86 athletes at the
\n30th edition of the Summer Universiade, enrolled in 10 events:
\nathletics, women’s basketball, gymnastics, rugby, swimming, judo, shooting
\nsport, fencing, table tennis and taekwondo. The Universiade is due to end on

\nwon the 2019 edition of the bike race hosted by Sibiu, which ended on Sunday
\nwith a stage measuring 169.5 km. Aged 21, Serrano won the race with a 17 second
\nlead over runner up Daniel Munoz Giraldo of Columbia, his team mate at Andoni
\nGiocattoli Sidermec, while Croatia’s Radoslav Rogina came in third with a
\n39-second difference. The best-ranked Romanian athlete was Serghei Tvetcov, who

FC Viitorul Constanta won the
\nRomanian Supercup for the first time after defeating CFR Cluj on Saturday
\n1-nil, in a match venued in Ploiesti. Andrei Artean scored the winning goal
\nminutes before full time with a superb shot 30 meters off goal. FC Viitorul won
\nthe Romanian Cup in 2019, after winning 2-1 against Astra Giurgiu. The Romanian
\nSupercup marks the debut of the 2019-2020 football season. The first round in
