\nwinner of the women’s double scull Olympic title in Tokyo jointly with Ancuta Bodnar, has been designated the Athlete of the Year in 2021 by Steaua Army Sports Club.
\nDuring the ceremony where the Army club’s top-flight athletes were awarded, the
\ncommander of the club, R\u0103zvan \u015etefan Bichir, was keen on reminding everybody
\nthat Steaua’s athletes have contributed to all medals won in Tokyo. Also in Tokyo, fencer Ana-Maria
\nBr\u00e2nz\u0103 walked away with silver in the women’s singles epee event and rower Mugurel
\nSemciuc won silver with the men’s four coxless crew. Also silver went to the men’s double
\nscull crew made of Ciprian Tudos\u0103 and Marius Cozmiuc.<\/p>\n

Bianca
\nFlorentina Ghelber and Alexandru Mih\u0103i\u0163\u0103 Novac have been designated the Best Athletes in 2021. The Romanian Athletics Federation took into account the two
\nathletes’ performance in Tokyo. Ghelber came in 6th in the hammer throw event,
\nwhile Novac was 12th-placed in the javelin throw event. <\/p>\n

In football, the goal-keeper
\nof the national team and also the goalie of Sparta Prague, Florin Nita, has been
\ndesignated the Best footballer of the Year as part of the Romanian Football Gala
\n2021 which was organised online by the Journalists’ Sports Club. According to
\nAgerpres, Nita outclassed striker Claudiu Ke\u015feru, who in 2021 played for
\nBulgaria’s Ludogore\u0163 Razgrad and FCSB. Florin Nita also outclassed Slavia Prague’s
\nmidfielder Nicolae Stanciu. <\/p>\n

\nvolleyball, Alexia C\u0103ru\u0163a\u015fu of Galatasaray Istanbul and Marian Bala, playing for
\nArcada Gala\u0163i ,have been designated the best volleyball players of the year. The
\nannouncement was posted by the Romanian Volleyball Federation on its Facebook
\npage. The Performance of the Year Award went to Marius Macarie, the head-coach
\nof Romania’s youth team. We recall that Romania’s volleyball team came in 6th
\nat the World Championships in Mexico. The Head-coach of the Year 2021 Award went
\nto Sergiu Stancu, who is the head-coach of Romania’s champion team Arcada
\nGalati as well as the head-coach of Romania’s men’s national team. <\/p>\n
