Romania’s football champions CFR Cluj were
\neliminated from Europa League after being defeated by Red Star Belgrade 2-1 on
\nThursday, on home turf, in the second match of the competition’s playoffs. The
\nRomanians had also lost the first match, nil-4, in Belgrade. Still, CFR Cluj will
\ntake part in the groups of Europa Conference League. According to Digi Sport TV
\nstation, the team’s coach, Marius Sumudica was dismissed, following Thursday’s defeat.<\/p>\n

A number of matches, counting for the
\nseventh leg of Romania’s first league will be held this weekend. On Friday, FC
\nVoluntari will be up against Chindia Targoviste, and FC U Craiova will take on

\nturf, while Rapid Bucharest will be up against Universitatea Craiova on the
\nnational arena in the capital city. Sunday will see Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe against
\nFC Botosani and later in the day Gaz Metan against UTA Arad. CFR Cluj lead the

\nTokyo. Romanian’s cyclist Eduard Novak ranked 11th in the 1,000-m
\nrace. Novak, aged 45, who won medals at the 2008 and 2012 editions of the
\nParalympic Games, is minister of the youth and sports in the Romanian

News from handball now. At the end of this
\nweek in Braila, the women’s handball teams Rapid and CFR will play the semi-finals
\nin Romania’s Handball Cup. The other semifinal, will see Handbal Club Zalau
