\nwomen’s handball team CSM Bucharest saw their first win in the current season
\nof the Champions’ League. The Romanian champions won 36-31 against the Croatian
\nside Podravka Koprivnica, away from home on Saturday, in Group A. Cristina
\nNeagu was the Romanians’ best player, with 14 goals scored. CSM Bucharest had
\nlost 2 matches, against Esbjerg and Rostov respectively. After the win in Croatia,
\ncoach Adrian Vasile’s students went up to 5th place in the group. Their
\nnext match, against Borussia Dortmund, also away from home, is scheduled on October
\n17.<\/p>\n

In tennis, Mihaela Buz\u0103rnescu lost the Valencia ITF final to the Dutch
\nArantxa Rus, 6-4, 7-6. The result takes the Romanian player up 27 places in the
\nworld ranking, from 175th to 148th.<\/p>\n

In football,
\nin the 7th leg of Turkey’s championship, Romanian midfielder Ovidiu
\nMoru\u021ban scored the winning goal for his team, Galatasaray Istanbul, which
\ndefeated G\u00f6ztepe, 2 – 1, on home turf. This was the first goal for the 22-year-old
\nfootballer since his transfer from Romanian side FCSB.<\/p>\n

The
\nweekend also saw matches in the 10th leg of the Romanian League One.
\nOn Friday, FC Voluntari won 1-0, against Rapid Bucharest, away from home. On Saturday
\nFC Arge\u0219 drew, 0 – 0, against Chindia T\u00e2rgovi\u0219te, and in Bucharest FCSB outplayed
\nAcademica Clinceni 3 – 2. On Sunday, Farul Constan\u021ba won the home match against
\nCS Mioveni, 2-1, FC Boto\u0219ani drew at home against FC U Craiova, and CFR Cluj defeated
\nUTA Arad, 1-0.<\/p>\n
