The Romanian women’s handball champion CSM Bucharest was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Champions League by Team Esbjerg of Denmark. The Romanians needed a victory by two goals, to advance. In the first match, held in Bucharest, the Scandinavians won 26-25. Sunday s match ended in a draw, each side scoring 27 goals. Esbjerg thus qualified for the Final Four which will be played in Budapest.<\/p>\n

The finals of the King’s and Queen’s Oina Cup were held on Saturday morning on the Triumphal Arch stadium in Bucharest. Progresul B\u0103ile\u0219ti and Dacia Mioveni played in the Queen’s Cup, Progresul winning the match 5-2. Frontiera Tomis Constan\u021ba and Biruinta Gher\u0103e\u0219ti of Neam\u021b County met in the King’s Cup. Constanta, the defending champions, won 16-12. Last weekend, the eighth round of the Romanian football First League was played, the play-off \/ play-out phase. In the playoffs, on Saturday, Farul Constan\u0163a – FC Voluntari ended the match in a draw, 1-1, while FC Arge\u015f was defeated by CFR Cluj 0-6. On Sunday, in Craiova, FCSB won the match against Universitatea Craiova, 1-0. CFR Cluj is top of the tables with 54 points, followed by FCSB with 52 points and Universitatea Craiova with 45 points.
