Romanian athlete David Popovici
\nwon silver in the 200m freestyle event on Sunday at the World Swimming Championships
\n(25m) in Melbourne. David Popovici finished the final race in 1.40.79 seconds,
\noutranked by Sunwoo Hwang of South Korea, who also set the competition record.
\nTom Dean of Great Britain scooped bronze in the same event. This was the only
\nmedal for Romania, which was represented by three swimmer as the championships
\nin Melbourne: David Popovici, Robert Glin\u021b\u0103 and Andrei Anghel. For 18-year-old
\nPopovici, 2022 has been a remarkable year. Our athlete won gold medals in the
\n100m and 200m freestyle events, both in the senior European Championships, as

In news from women’s handball, in
\nEHF Champions League, CSM Bucharest is now leader of Group A after on Sunday
\nthe team defeated the defending champios Vipers Kristiansand of Norway, 27-24
\nat home. Cristina Neagu was the topscorer for CSM with 9 goals. CSM Bucharest
\ntops the group tables with 15 points, while Vipers is in runner-up position
\nwith 13 points. The competition will resume after the winter holidays break on
\nJanuary 7, when CSM will play Banik Most of the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n

In Group B, Rapid Bucharest defeated

\nposition, Team Esbjerg of Denmark and Gy\u0151r of Hungary, respectively. Metz of
\nFrance tops the group tables with 15 points. Rapid will next take on Buducnost

This weekend saw matches counting
\ntowards the 21st round of the Romanian Football SuperLeague. On
\nFriday, FC Voluntari drew 1-1 against Farul Constan\u021ba. On Saturday, Sepsi
\nSf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe defeated Universitatea Cluj 2-1 at home, while Universitatea
\nCraiova won 3-0 against Chindia T\u00e2rgovi\u0219te, also on home turf. Sunday’s
\nfixtures each ended in a draw: FC Arge\u0219 drew 2-2 against CS Mioveni, Petrolul
\nPloie\u0219ti drew 1-1 against FC U Craiova, while UTA Arad drew 1-1 against Rapid
\nBucharest. On Monday, FCSB is playing FC Boto\u0219ani at home, while on Tuesday, in
\nCluj, the local side CFR will play FC Hermannstadt. Farul tops the league
