No Romanian Gymnastics team has qualified for the Olympic Games for more
\nthan ten years. The last time they did, back in 2012 at the London Olympics,
\nthe Romanian women’s team comprising C\u0103t\u0103lina Ponor, Sandra Izba\u015fa, Larisa
\nIordache, Diana Bulimar and Diana Chelaru won the bronze medal. The last
\nOlympic medals in individual events also date from the London Games, with
\nIzba\u015fa winning the gold in vault and Ponor the silver in the floor event. In
\nthe following two editions of the Olympic Games the Romanian gymnasts did not
\ndo very well. The best result came in Rio in the men’s competition, when Marian
\nDr\u0103gulescu ranked fourth in the vault event. Andrei Muntean finished in 6th
\nplace in parallel bars. In the women’s events, C\u0103t\u0103lina Ponor finished in 7th
\nplace in the beam event. At the Tokyo 2020 Games which took place in 2021
\nbecause of the Covid 19 pandemic, no Romanian gymnast reached the finals. Marian
\nDr\u0103gulescu and Maria Holbur\u0103 did not do very well in the qualifiers and Larisa
\nIordache, despite finishing fourth in the floor event in the qualifiers, was
\nunable to compete in the final because of an injury. <\/p>\n

We are now close to the end of another Olympic cycle, to end next year
\nwith the Olympic Games in Paris. Qualifying tournaments are already under way
\nand Romania’s teams have made the first step at the European Championship in
\nAntalya, Turkey. The men’s team ranked 11th in the team event and the
\nwomen’s team came fifth, thus securing their qualification for the World
\nChampionships to be held this autumn in Anvers, where the final list will be
\ndecided of the teams who will travel to Paris for the Olympic Games. The men’s
\nteam comprised Andrei Muntean, Gabriel Burt\u0103nete, Robert Burt\u0103nete, Nicholas
\n\u0162arc\u0103 and R\u0103zvan Marc. In the individual events, Gabriel Burt\u0103nete ranked
\nfourth in the vault and Andrei Muntean also fourth in the parallel bars. The
\nwomen’s team comprised Ana Maria B\u0103rbosu, Sabrina Voinea, Amalia Ghigoar\u0163\u0103,
\nLilia Cosman and Andreea Preda, with Voinea winning the only medal of the
