\nweek we got a message from a first-time listener – Ph\u1ea1m Vi\u1ec7t Anh (Vietnam).
\nPham is actually new to shortwave listening (he started in 2019) and was able
\nto pick up our station. Here is what he wrote: <\/p>\n

I
\nused to have always dreamed of catching a shortwave station from Europe because
\nmany have left the shortwave band. And in 2022, when playing with a Kiwisdr
\nwebsite located in Europe( a website that supports real-time shortwave
\nreception), I found out that Radio Romania International was still live on
\nshortwave. After that, I looked for your website and looked up your radio
\nfrequency schedule. At first, I could not listen to your program directly at
\nhome because the frequency I tuned to is not beamed to my location, and the
\nsignal was very weak. After many attempts, I finally managed to receive your
\nsignal the previous month, which made me very happy ????. I love your
\nprogram very much. It keeps me informed of current affairs, what is unique
\nabout Romanian history and culture, what are picturesque places of interest to
\nvisit, and especially, I am very keen on the music of your country, the songs
\npresented in your program are really beautiful!<\/p>\n

We
\ngot really hot weather in Romania this week, with several overlapping alerts
\nagainst extreme heat and heat waves. This Thursday, for instance, temperatures
\nexceeded 40 degrees Celsius in Bucharest (with real-feel temperatures going
\nmuch higher, of course). Some of our listeners too have been monitoring the
\nweather across the globe. Mei Lin (China) said temperatures are really high in
\nhis local area as well and sent us this message: <\/p>\n

The World Meteorological
\nOrganization announced that according to preliminary data, the world has just
\nexperienced the hottest week on record. In addition, the past June was also the
\nhottest June on record in the world. The sea surface temperature reached a new
\nhigh and the Antarctic sea ice range was at a record low.According
\nto a recent report released by the Copernicus Climate Change Service Center of
\nthe European Union, which is closely cooperated by the World Meteorological
\nOrganization, the temperature in June 2023 was a little more than 0.5\u00b0C higher
\nthan the average temperature from 1991 to 2020, breaking the previous record in
\nJune 2019.The high temperature lasts until July, which is usually the
\nhottest month of the year. According to preliminary data, the average
\ntemperature of the global surface above two meters reached the highest point on
\nrecord on July 3, which was 16.88\u2103, breaking the daily record
\nof 16.80\u2103 in August 2016. After that,
\nthe temperature broke this record again on July 4, reaching 17.03\u2103.The global temperature has
\nhit a new high and sounded the alarm! I hope everyone will take care of
\nthemselves. Don’t go out unless necessary, to avoid the scorching sun!<\/p>\n
