Magic is real. This is what that the organizers of one of the most important cultural events in Romania, the George Enescu Festival, now at its 21st edition, believe. The festival, so eagerly awaited by those in love with classical music will be held between September 1st and 28th in Bucharest and several other cities. Some of the greatest artists of the moment will grace the stage this year. Pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim, the \u2018wonder\u2019 pianist Yuja Wang, famous orchestras like the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Pittsburgh<\/p>\n

Symphony Orchestra have been invited to take part in this 21st edition of the George Enescu Festival. The long series of recitals, opera and ballet shows, concerts, conferences, workshops, musicology symposiums and concerts held in the Festival\u2019s Square in Bucharest and in other cities throughout Romania will also be presented by Radio Romania, which will broadcast live over 10 000 minutes of music and interviews with musicians and the audience. Moreover, on September 20, 21 and 22 Radio Romania will organize theme evenings for the festival\u2019s audience. Among Radio Romania\u2019s guests at the event is pianist Alexandra Dariescu. Aged only 27 she is the first Romanian pianist to have performed on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall alongside London\u2019s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert, held earlier this summer, was also attended by members of the Royal House of Romania. Seen by the BBC as a \u201crising star\u201d, Alexandra Dariescu made her debut at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York.<\/p>\n

Also part of the festival, the concert of one of Britain\u2019s best known chamber music bands, the Schubert Ensemble, will be held in the central-Romanian city of Brasov. Another wonderful surprise of this year\u2019s edition of the George Enescu Festival is the presence of the American pianist Murray Perahia. Acclaimed internationally, the artist, who owns two Grammy awards and boasts an impressive career, will perform in Bucharest, on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum on September 28th. Another exceptional event is scheduled to take place on the same evening — a concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of maestro Cristian Mandeal, which will mark the end of the festival. The George Enescu International Festival bears the name of one of the greatest Romanian musicians. George Enescu, a violinist, pianist, composer, conductor and professor is a musician respected and loved throughout the world.<\/p>\n
