The 5th edition of the Traveling Piano Tour<\/em> started last month in the Romanian town of Galati. Its protagonist, the renowned Romanian pianist Horia Mihail is holding recitals or concerts until the month of May, in 20 Romanian towns and cities and in neighboring Moldova. The tour includes all historical regions of Romania. In Tulcea and Roman, in the east of the country, the pianist will meet again with the other \u201ctraveling pianos\u201d, which were left there after the previous tours 2013 and 2014. Inspired from the captivating story of the brilliant pianist Franz Liszt, The Traveling Piano <\/em>is a project carried out by Radio Romania Cultural Media Center and the \u201cAccendo\u201d Cultural Association, and enjoys the support of Radio Romania.<\/p>\n

The captivating national tour has delighted thousands of music lovers and its main goal, besides introducing the public to classical music, is to offer a city a concert piano, which will stay there for four years, and thus encourage quality music events. In this year\u2019s edition, the traveling piano provided by Radio Romania will stay in Deva. Currently on its 5th tour with the Traveling Piano<\/em>, Horia Mihail is trying to prove that romance can take different shapes and meanings. Performing fragments from Brahms, Liszt, Schumann and Rachmaninov, Horia Mihail has the chance to set off an infinite range of emotions in those attending his shows.<\/p>\n

Pianist Horia Mihail made his debut in his native city, Brasov, at the age of 10. Since then he has performed in concert more than two hundred times, with the great majority of Romania\u2019s symphonic orchestras, including the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Radio Orchestra. After studying for fourteen years at the Music Academy in Bucharest, Mihail studied for three years at the University of Illinois, where he also took his master\u2019s degree in 1995. He won first prize in all piano competitions he attended. Horia Mihail has given concerts and solo and chamber music recitals in eighteen countries on four continents, and has performed alongside famous musicians. <\/p>\n
