{"id":831066,"date":"2024-11-18T15:18:03","date_gmt":"2024-11-18T13:18:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rri.ro\/?p=831066"},"modified":"2024-11-18T15:30:09","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T13:30:09","slug":"the-lights-of-caravaggio-are-on-in-timisoara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rri.ro\/en\/close-up\/rri-special\/the-lights-of-caravaggio-are-on-in-timisoara-id831066.html","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Lights of Caravaggio\u201d are on in Timisoara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThe Lights of Caravaggio: The Beginning of Modernity in European Painting \u2013 Masterpieces from the Roberto Longhi Collection\u201d opened its doors at the National Art Museum in Timisoara, on November 16.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition evolves around Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio\u2019s incredible and revolutionary style, showcasing not only his dramatic interplay of light and shadow, the strong contrasts between light and dark, but also the Italian master\u2019s influence on other painters and his contribution to European art.<\/p>\n<p>It brings together no less than 43 artworks by 33 painters, having Caravaggio\u2019s\u00a0 work \u201cBoy Bitten by a Lizard\u201d, painted in 1597, as centerpiece.<\/p>\n<p>Present at the opening of the exhibition in Timisoara, RRI\u2019s Eugen Cojocariu has had a talk with the Italian Ambassador to Bucharest, H.E.
