This year, at the Olympic Games, Popovici won gold in the 200-meter freestyle race and bronze in the 100-meter event, and at the European Championships, gold medals in the 100 and 200-meter freestyle events. Marian Enache and Andrei Cornea were designed “Crew of the Year” by the Romanian Rowing Federation. At the Paris Olympics, they won gold in the men’s double sculls.
