Skater Julia Sauter, a German athlete competing for Romanian has qualified to the Winter Olympic Game, to be held in Italy\u2019s Milan in 2026. She came in 16th in the short program as part of the World Artistic Skating Championships hosted by the city of Boston, in the USA. Sauter will thus compete in the long program, where the first 24 skaters have got through. <\/p>\n
Julia\u2019s top-flight performance means meeting the standards set for the participation to the Olympic Games. Notwithstanding, in order to represent Romania, according to the Olympic regulations, Julia Sauter needs to be granted the Romanian citizenship. According to Ms Sauter the process is underway. <\/p>\n
Romanian ice hockey teams ACSH Gheorghieni and Sport Club Miercurea Ciuc Wednesday night won the Erste Liga regional competition semifinals. On home turf, ACSH Gheorgheni defeated holders Corona Bra\u015fov, 1-nil. Sport Club Miercurea Ciuc grabbed a 2-nil away win again Jegkorong Akademia in Budapest. The two Harghita-based teams now have a 2-nil win in the semifinals, held after the-best-in-seven-games system. <\/p>\n
The next fixtures are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday in Brasov and Miercurea-Ciuc, respectively.
