The European Weightlifting Championship is underway in Chi\u015fin\u0103u, the Republic of Moldova. After four days of contests, the Romanian delegation have reaped nine medals out of which four gold, three silver and two bronze.<\/p>\n
Mihaela Cambei has reaped three gold medals in the 49 kilogram category contest, in the jerk, snatch and total events. In the 59 kilogram category, Andreea Cotru\u0163a won gold in the total event and silvers in the snatch and jerk events. Another silver medal was won by Cristian Luca in the 55 kilogram category, the snatch event. Also in the snatch event of the 45 kilograms, Ioana M\u0103d\u0103lina Miron stepped onto the third step of the podium. Bronze in the snatch event was also reaped by Cosmina Pan\u0103, in the 49 kilogram category with a 76 kilogram lift.<\/p>\n
In the World Table Tennis Cup in Macau, China, Romanian player Bernadette Sz\u0151cs has qualified for the eighth finals after two wins in the qualifiers. On Tuesday she secured a win against Constantina Psihogios of Australia, while on Wednesday she outperformed Sreeja Akula of India, in Group 9. In Group 12, Elizabeta Samara first defeated Amy Wang of the United States and on Wednesday lost to Yubin Shin of South-Korea. Only the groups\u2019 winners have qualified for the eighth finals.<\/p>\n
Dinamo Bucharest became the bronze medalist in the national women\u2019s volleyball championship. In the matches for the third and fourth positions, Dinamo won 3-2 on aggregate against Corona Brasov. Dinamo won the first matches on their own turf 3-2 and 3-1, and Corona secured their double home wins 3-1. In the decisive match on Wednesday in Bucharest, Dinamo secured a 3-0 win.<\/p>\n
The fifth leg of the Romanian Football Superleague takes place this weekend with the sides at the bottom of the ranking fighting to avoid demotion. Two matches have been scheduled for Friday. In Galati, local side Otelul is playing Unirea Slobozia, a team from southern Romania. Then in Arad, western Romania, local side UTA takes on Sepsi Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe. On Saturday, Farul Constan\u0163a on its own turf plays Hermannstadt of Sibiu. On Sunday Poli Ia\u015fi will be playing in a home game FC Botosani, while on Monday, Gloria Buz\u0103u plays Petrolul from Ploiesti, southern Romania.<\/p>\n
At the top of the ranking, on Saturday, Rapid Bucharest will be playing Universitatea Cluj while on Sunday the first two sides in the ranking, FCSB and CFR Cluj, will be meeting in Bucharest. They are separated in the standings only by one point. On Monday, also in Bucharest Dinamo will be playing Universitatea Craiova.<\/p>\n
