For the first time, Romania has exceeded the threshold of 100,000 anti-Covid-19 vaccinations per day. Authorities’ goal is to have 5 million people vaccinated by June 1st, which seems feasible. More than 2.1 people have also got the second jab. According to Romania’s President, Klaus Iohannis, Romania is in a very good situation with regard to the vaccination campaign, thanks to the initiatives taken to simplify procedures. <\/p>\n

Klaus Iohannis: We have entered a new stage with regard to vaccination: we have marathons, we have centers opened around the clock in military hospitals, where people who want to get vaccinated can just go and do it. We’ve actually given up all red-tape and as of the end of this week, all vaccination centers can vaccinate people who are not registered on the platform. So, anybody can go to a center and get vaccinated.<\/p>\n

As of this week, the campaign also includes family doctors. Following the example set by the city of Timisoara, in the west, an immunization marathon started in Bucharest on Friday, in two buildings that are emblematic for the capital: the Palace Hall and the National Library. The very head of the campaign, military doctor Valeriu Gheorghita, will vaccinate people. The marathon ends on Monday and involves some 1,200 volunteers, doctors, nurses, residents and students, who will ensure 50 non-stop immunization flows. <\/p>\n

The Rector of the ‘Carol Davila’ Medicine and Pharmacy University in Bucharest, Viorel Jinga, has stated that, besides vaccination proper, the medical staff will give people the necessary information to have them understand that vaccination is the optimum solution to overcome this epidemiological situation. People do not need appointments to get the jab.<\/p>\n

Similar marathons will be organized between the 14th and the 16th of May in other big cities, such as Targu Mures, Cluj, Iasi and Craiova. Military hospitals are also open for anybody who wants to get the vaccine. To those vaccinated, summer will look almost like before, authorities have promised, with concerts and shows, private parties and restaurant dinners. <\/p>\n

As regards the matches of the European Football Championship that Romania is hosting this summer, only the vaccinated fans will be allowed to attend. Big open-air events, such as Neversea and Untold, might be held after August 1st. If the vaccination rate is good, resuming normal life is very likely.
