Ana Maria Barbosu became the bronze medalist in the individual all round event of the European Gymnastics Championship in Leipzig, Germany, on Thursday. The other athlete representing Romania in the competition, Denisa Golgot\u0103, who recently came back to competitions after a long recess, has ranked only seventh.<\/p>\n
Italian Manila Esposito is the new European champion, while the silver medal went to Spanish gymnast Alba Petisco. Romania hadn\u2019t obtained a European medal in the individual all round since 2013, when Larisa Iordache stepped onto the podium\u2019s second step.<\/p>\n
Also on Thursday seven Romanian crews qualified for the finals of the European Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s pair, Simona Radi\u015f and Magdalena Rusu emerged as winners of Heat 1 with a European record. Also a European record was set by Romania\u2019s male four made up of \u015etefan Berariu, Sergiu Bejan, Andrei M\u00e2ndril\u0103 and Ciprian Tudos\u0103.<\/p>\n
Romania\u2019s double scull with Andrada Moro\u015fanu and Mariana Dumitru has also qualified after coming second in the aforementioned contest.<\/p>\n
The Romanian women\u2019s four, made up of Adriana Adam, Maria Lehaci, Ancu\u0163a Bodnar and Amalia Bere\u015f also came second in the qualifiers.<\/p>\n
Another qualified crew is Romania\u2019s female quadruple scull, made up of Emanuela Ciot\u0103u, Cristina Drug\u0103, M\u0103d\u0103lina Cornea and Patricia Cire\u015f in spite of coming third in Heat 2.<\/p>\n
Romania\u2019s both male and female eights have also qualified for the finals, with a first position won by the girls and a third place by the boys. Four other crews have qualified for the semis.<\/p>\n
Romania\u2019s football champions FCSB, has hired international Denis Alibec, from Farul Constan\u0163a. Alibec also played for FCSB between 2017 and 2018. The 34 years old footballer has also won 43 caps for Romania\u2019s national side for which he scored six times. Alibec has also been selected for the games the national side will be playing in June against Austria and Cyprus.<\/p>\n
