Footballers from Romania\u2019s national elevens had a hot summer start. Romania\u2019s national football side played in the World Cup preliminaries. They lost to Austria 1-2, then secured a 2-0 home win against Cyprus.<\/p>\n

Our youth side made up of under 21 footballers participated in the European Championship in Slovakia, where they sadly lost all the three games they played. They conceded a 1-0 win against Italy after having wasted several good chances and a penalty shot. In the second game, which they lost to Spain 2-1, the selection of head coach Daniel Pancu managed to keep a 1-0 upper hand for 80 minutes. However, in the last match an unmotivated Romanian side lost to the host country 1-0.<\/p>\n

The third Romanian side playing in a major competition was its under-19 eleven, which played in the European Championship hosted by Romania.<\/p>\n

These young Romanian footballers coached by Ion Marin managed to win two of the matches they played in their group. They defeated Montenegro 2-1, lost to Spain 1-3 but ensured qualification in the semis after a 3-0 win against Denmark. They lost their fight for a place in the finals to the Netherlands, 3-1.<\/p>\n

In the other semifinal game of the European Championship for under-19 players Spain secured a 6-5 win against Germany in the extra-time. The finals will be pitching Spain against the Netherlands in Bucharest on June 26th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Most of the players of Romania\u2019s national football sides are now on holiday. However, their club counterparts have resumed training. FCSB, for instance, is in the Netherlands to play two friendlies. The first game will be pitching FCSB against Almere City on June 28, and they will be taking on FC Utrecht three days later. FCSB will kick off the new competition season on July 5th<\/sup> when they are going to take on CFR Cluj in Romania\u2019s Supercup. On July 8th<\/sup> or 9th<\/sup> FCSB will be up against Inter Club d’Escaldes, of Andorra in the first preliminary round of the Champions League. A fresh edition of Romania\u2019s Football Superleague is expected to kick off on July 12th<\/sup>.
