The bank has revised its inflation forecast for the end of the year, from a previous 4.6% up to 8.8%. According to the governor, the inflation will be reaching its peak in September, when the rate is expected somewhere around 9.6-9.7% but will go down under 3.5% towards the end of 2026. Isarescu has underlined that in order to avoid a recession this year against the latest measures of fiscal consolidation a stepped\u2013up absorption of EU funds is essential. According to the National Institute for Statistics, in July this year the annual inflation rate went up to 7.84% from a 5.7% a month ago against the growing prices in food and non-food products as well as in services.
