Visit <\/strong>–\u00a0<\/strong>Romania\u2019s Prime Minister, Ilie Bolojan, will be paying a working visit to the ex-soviet, Romanian-speaking Republic of Moldova on Saturday, the first in his capacity as head of the government. The Romanian official will be having talks with his counterpart in Chisinau, Dorin Recean. Talks will be focusing on topics of mutual interest, including the projects funded by Romania through non-reimbursable funds and also on aspects related to the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Bolojan is expected to confirm the special character of the bilateral relations as well as Romania\u2019s staunch support for the Republic of Moldova\u2019s EU accession. Romania\u2019s president, Nicusor Dan, will also be in Chisinau on August 31, the Day of the Romanian Language, the Department for Information & Communication with Mass-Media of the Moldovan Presidency has announced.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Diplomacy <\/strong>– The annual meeting of the Romanian Diplomacy will be taking place in Bucharest over August 25-26, the Foreign Ministry has announced. The event will bring together the heads of Romania\u2019s diplomatic and consular missions abroad as well as state officials. The event is expected to also include a videoconference, which will involve the participation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, of the Foreign Ministers from the Republic of Moldova and Poland as well as of the NATO Deputy Secretary General. High on the agenda are topics related to the strategic security, the OECD accession or the European Union enlargement.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tennis <\/strong>– The Romanian tenis player, Sorana Cirstea (112th WTA) has qualified for the semifinals of the WTA 250 in Cleveland Ohio, a competition with total prizes of more than 275 thousand dollars. Cirstea has outperformed the competition\u2019s odds-on favourite, Liudmila Samsonova of Russia, 6-4, 6-1. Cirstea has thus obtained 116 WTA points and 11,970 dollars. In the competition\u2019s semifinals, the Romanian will be meeting for the first time Anastasia Zakharova (100th<\/sup>\u00a0WTA) who benefitted from the withdrawal of the German player Eva Lys.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Festival <\/strong>– The 27th<\/sup>\u00a0International George Enescu Festival is due to kick off on Sunday, August 24. This year we mark 70 years since the death of the greatest Romanian composer and the present edition is an opportunity to bring to the forefront his artistic legacy and its profound impact upon the universal classical music. The event is expected to bring together over four thousand artists from Romania and abroad who, until September 21, will be performing in over 95 concerts and performances. Radio Romania Music, the only Romanian channel entirely devoted to classical music with internationally-recognized performances, will be broadcasting 63 of the concerts taking place in Bucharest. 11 of the festival\u2019s concerts have also been included in the summer session of the European Radio Union.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Talks<\/strong> \u2013 The Romanian Foreign Minister Oana \u0162oiu on Friday talked with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania, AmCham, about how to improve the economic and trade chapters of the Romanian-American strategic partnership, as well as about the support for Romania’s inclusion in the Visa Waiver Program. The talks also focused on identifying new investment and trade cooperation projects, joint efforts for Romania’s accession to the OECD, and the organization of the fourth edition of the Romania-United States Economic Forum. AmCham Romania representatives expressed their willingness to collaborate with the Romanian Foreign Ministry to promote common objectives. Oana \u0162oiu will leave for Chicago on September 20 with three main objectives in mind: Romania’s participation in the UN General Assembly, meeting with the Romanian communities, and preparing for the visit that President Nicu\u015for Dan will pay to the United States, most likely in the first quarter of 2026. We recall that Romanians were to travel to the United States without visas starting from April 1, 2025, but the Visa Waiver program for Romania was suspended by the American authorities.<\/p>\n
