\nto the delivery of heavy weapons in the early days of the war, coming
\nunder criticism from some European leaders. Berlin now announced it
\nwill deliver 30 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine, a radical
\nchange that may have an impact on other decisions as well. Moreover,
\nGermany will contribute to the training of Ukrainian soldiers. The UK
\nalso announced it will send new rocket models, France will send
\nhigh-precision artillery and The Netherlands will send armoured
\nhawitzers.

\nRomania was
\nrepresented in Ramstein by its defence minister Vasile D\u00eencu,
\nwho also briefly met his Ukrainian counterpart Oleksii Reznikov.
\nAccording
\nto a statement from the Romanian defence ministry, D\u00eencu
\nconveyed
\nhis country’s full solidarity with Ukraine and its readiness to
\nmaintain constant and open dialogue whenever necessary. He also
\npresented concrete ways of supporting Ukraine and highlighted the
\nextremely important role of the humanitarian logistical hub in
\nSuceava, in northern Romania, which has been efficiently used by a
\nnumber of states. Speaking about the evolution of the conflict,
\nVasile D\u00eencu reiterated Romania’s support for Ukraine’s
\nsovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally
\nrecognised borders, condemned the atrocities committed in Ukrainian
\ntowns and villages and highlighted the urgent need for the
\nunconditional opening of humanitarian corridors.

\nThe site
\nchosen for the meeting on Ukraine, the air base in Ramstein, is most
\nlikely not a coincidence. Apart from its logistical advantages, it
\nalso has a symbolic effect in the war in Ukraine, being considered
\nNATO’s central point in this war. On the ground, Russia intensified
\nshelling of Ukraine’s railroad infrastructure to prevent deliveries
\nof western weapons. Moscow says it seized control of Kherson region,
\nin the south of the country. The shelling of the Azovstal steel
\nplant also continued. Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov
\naccused NATO of waging a proxy war with Russia and said the weapons
