{"id":92639,"date":"2022-06-22T13:50:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T10:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devrri.freshlemon.ro\/news-and-current-affairs\/newsflash\/current-concerns-for-romanians-92639.html"},"modified":"2024-02-19T09:07:58","modified_gmt":"2024-02-19T07:07:58","slug":"current-concerns-for-romanians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rri.ro\/en\/news-and-current-affairs\/today-in-the-news\/current-concerns-for-romanians-id92639.html","title":{"rendered":"Current concerns for Romanians"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>Three-quarters of Romanians,&#13;<br \/>\nmore precisely 76% of them, are concerned that a prospective economic crisis&#13;<br \/>\nmight affect their finances, according to a poll on Risk perceptions and insurance&#13;<br \/>\nculture in Romania, performed last month on a sample of<strong style=font-size: 1em;> <\/strong>1,000 respondents aged between 18 and 50.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The poll was conducted by the National Union of&#13;<br \/>\nRomanian Insurers and Reinsurers (UNSAR) and the Romanian Evaluation and&#13;<br \/>\nStrategy Institute (IRES).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>According to the poll, the&#13;<br \/>\nsteep inflation rate is a concern for 68% of the interviewees, followed by war (64%), fires and&#13;<br \/>\nautomobile accidents (61%). The pandemic and\/or other diseases is a source of&#13;<br \/>\nconcern for 57% of Romanians. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>As the age increases, the proportion of people&#13;<br \/>\nworried about possible undesired events also rises, the poll indicates. City dwellers&#13;<br \/>\nand average-income categories are also more concerned with these aspects. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The growing inflation has affected one in two&#13;<br \/>\nRomanians, with little over half of the respondents saying their revenues&#13;<br \/>\nremained steady over the past year. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>In fact, inflation has been steadily on the&#13;<br \/>\nrise in Romania recently. The increase was prompted by the spike in fuel and&#13;<br \/>\nelectricity prices, which entailed chain reactions throughout the economy. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>According to data made public recently by the&#13;<br \/>\nNational Statistics Institute, the most severe price rises have been reported&#13;<br \/>\nin the past year for natural gas, foodstuffs such as sunflower oil, flour and&#13;<br \/>\npotatoes, and sewage services. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Experts estimate that inflation will continue&#13;<br \/>\nto go up for a while, and the conflict in Ukraine, which affects exports, will&#13;<br \/>\nkeep grain prices up. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The poll also indicates that in spite of the&#13;<br \/>\neconomic growth, nearly 4 in 10 respondents believe they will save more money&#13;<br \/>\nin the coming year, as opposed to 2 in 10 interviewees who provided this answer&#13;<br \/>\nin last year&#8217;s poll. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Just like in 2021, bank deposits are the main&#13;<br \/>\nsavings options for Romanians, with 4 in 10 people saying this is the method of&#13;<br \/>\nchoice for them. Another one-quarter of the respondents said they would invest&#13;<br \/>\nin real estate. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Now more than ever, it is important for people&#13;<br \/>\nto know that there are safe savings options, available to everybody, such as&#13;<br \/>\nthe financial protection plans provided by life insurance policies. Insurance may&#13;<br \/>\nbe an efficient solution to ensure sustainability to the finances of a family,&#13;<br \/>\nsaid Alexandru Ciuncan, head of the National Union of Romanian Insurers and&#13;<br \/>\nReinsurers.
