Polling stations in the Republic of Moldova closed at 9:00 p.m., when the voter turnout exceeded 1,593,000,\u00a0 that is 51.94%. Of the total of 1.59 million voters, 1.32 million cast their votes on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and over 260,000 at the\u00a0 polling stations opened abroad.\u00a0 29,379 people voted at\u00a0 the 23 polling stations opened in Romania.<\/p>\n

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, sent a message of gratitude to the citizens who participated in the parliamentary elections on September 28:\u00a0\u201cThank you to Moldovans at home and in the diaspora for participating in the vote! In Moldova, the polling stations closed at 9:00 PM, but in some countries the polling stations are still open. Go vote!\u201d, Sandu wrote on her page.<\/p>\n
In her message, the president recalled that the electoral process continues abroad and encouraged Moldovans living abroad to take advantage of the remaining time to exercise their right to vote.<\/p>\n

The National Police of the Republic of Moldova warns\u00a0 the country could face protests as of Sunday night.\u00a0 Furthermore, \u00a0police officials issued a statement on Sunday evening announcing that “there is information about some groups of people who intend,\u00a0 as from Sunday midnight to Monday, to organize destabilizing actions in the city of Chisinau”.<\/p>\n
