style=\"font-family: ACaslonPro, Verdana, Geneva, regular;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Fascinated with Romania\u2019s national poet Mihai Eminescu, Amita Bhose produced the first translations of his poems into Bengali and penned dozens of articles and essays about his poems, his connection to India and the influence of <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Rabindranah<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> Tagore and of Indian philosophy on his work. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #696969;\"><span style=\"font-family: ACaslonPro, Verdana, Geneva, regular;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Apart from her work on Mihai Eminescu and her translations from other Romanian writers, like playwrights Ion Luca Caragiale and Mihail Sebastian and novelist Mihail Sadoveanu, she <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">also <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">helped popularise the work of Rabindranah Tagore in <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">this country<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">translating many of his works into Romanian for the first time<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Tagore<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> himself visited this country in 1926, <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">as part of a tour of a number of European countries. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #696969;\"><span style=\"font-family: ACaslonPro, Verdana, Geneva, regular;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">She also taught <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">a course in Indian civilisation, Sanskrit and Bengali at the University of Bucharest <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">for two decades and wrote the first Bengali-Romanian dictionary. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #696969;\"><span style=\"font-family: ACaslonPro, Verdana, Geneva, regular;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: Noto Sans;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In an archive interview, Amita Bhose spoke at length about her first contacts with
