The Romanian Parliament on Tuesday voted the new Boards of Directors of the public radio and television broadcasters. Each board will have 13 members, eight appointed by parliamentary groups, two by employees and one each from national minorities, the Presidency and the Government.<\/p>\n

Thus, the Board of Directors of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation (SRR) is made up of:
\nRuxandra Ileana S\u0103raru, Radu Bogdan Herjeu and Alexandru Ioan \u015eerb\u0103nescu (PSD);
\nMaria Muntean (AUR);
\nVlad Mircea Pufu (PNL);
\nRobert Cristian Schwartz and Alexandra Coliban (USR);
\nBodoczi Annam\u00e1ria (UDMR);
\nRuxandra Georgeta Gheorghe (the Group of National Minorities);
\nDrago\u015f Gabriel P\u0103tl\u0103geanu (the Presidency);
\nNadina Ioana Dogioiu (the Government);
\nMarius Dorian T\u0103nase and Nicoleta Viorica Balaci (SRR employees).<\/p>\n

At the public television broadcaster (TVR), the members of the Board of Directors are:
\nLoredana Corchi\u015f, Nicoleta Amalia Matei and Stelian B\u0103r\u0103gan (PSD);
\nRadu Carp and Cristina Ancu\u0163a Pocora (PNL);
\nCatrinel Trofin (USR);
\nMonica Simona Ghiurco (AUR);
\nAnderco Aliz Timea (UDMR);
\nCristina Narcisa Manciu (the Presidency);
\nAna Adriana S\u0103ftoiu (the Government);
\nEmanuel Sorin Toric\u0103 and Cristian Godinac (TVR employees);
\nand Borislav Velimirovici (the Group of National Minorities).<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that AUR MPs, in opposition, did not participate in Tuesday\u2019s vote. George Simion announced that he had filed a criminal complaint for abuse of office, arguing that his party was entitled to two seats on each Board of Directors, instead of the single seat it received.<\/p>\n

After being sworn in, the members of the Boards of Directors met in separate sessions to designate candidates for the position of Director General (chairperson and CEO). At TVR, the nominee is Adriana S\u0103ftoiu, a former journalist, former spokesperson for the Presidency and former MP. As for journalist and commentator Robert Schwartz, former editor-in-chief of Deutsche Welle\u2019s Romanian Service (2000-2020), he has been nominated for the position of Director General of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation.<\/p>\n

The two candidates will appear next week before the joint parliamentary committees for culture and will subsequently be validated by Parliament.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Parliament also approved PSD\u2019s proposal to appoint Adrian \u0162u\u0163uianu as president of the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP). He has served as senator, president of the D\u00e2mbovi\u021ba County Council (south) and Minister of Defense. In 2012, Adrian \u0162u\u0163uianu was investigated by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) for influence peddling in connection with the local election campaign, but he was ultimately not subject to criminal prosecution.
