Fan Hongjie, of China, chose Trump for \u201chis unusual and daring approach in the field of migration control and domestic reforms, as well as for his international peace initiatives\u201d; while <span lang=\"fr-FR\">Stefano Citterio, <\/span>from Italy, argued: \u201cFor me, the personality of the year in 2025 was, undoubtedly, for better or worse, Donald Trump. First he increased customs tariffs for a number of countries, then he lowered them; he promoted a number of peace initiatives, not all acceptable or accepted. Despite his not always likable manner at European level, he is without a doubt one of the few who really does get involved in order to solve things. His arrogance is sometimes counterproductive, but it\u2019s hard to find politicians on the world stage who are not arrogant\u201d. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, <span lang=\"it-IT\">Mar\u00eda Corina Machado <\/span>from Venezuela<span lang=\"it-IT\">,<\/span> was a close runner-up among RRI\u2019s listeners and users. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Other public figures who were nominated for the title included United Nations Secretary General <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">Antonio Guterres, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the late Pope Francis, the new pope Leo XIV, Romania\u2019s new president <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">Nicu\u015for Dan, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Ukraine\u2019s president Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian president Vladimir Putin, Italy\u2019s prime minister Giorgia Meloni, Japan\u2019s prime minister <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">Sanae Takaichi, <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">United Nations Special Rapporteur <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">for t<\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">he Palestinian <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">territor<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ies <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Francesca Albanese and the former United Nations humanitarian affairs coordinator <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">Martin Griffiths, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">as well as the businessman Elon Musk and Stanford University computer scientist Fei-Fei Li. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">There were also proposals for collective winners, such as \u201cthe people behind the AI technology\u201d, the journalists from across the globe who are opposed to war and convey accurate information to the public, and the peoples who continue to suffer because of absurd wars, extremism or for religious reasons.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Radio Romania International again held its now already traditional survey among its listeners and Internet and social media users to decide who among international public figures from all areas had the strongest positive contribution on the world in 2025.
