The first building intended for entertainment was erected in 1880 and was made of wood and straw. It was called &#8220;Cazin&#8221; and was located on the high cliff, near the Genoese Lighthouse. The place quickly became the centre of social life, hosting theatre performances and balls.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #1d2228;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">In 1891, a strong winter storm seriously damaged the structure and destroyed <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">the<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"> roof of the building. The city hall decided then that the city needed <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">a more impressive structure <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">built of durable materials <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">and that would <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">reflect the strategic importance of the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">city, which was also a Black Sea port. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #1d2228;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The new building that would be erected to host the casino <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">was to define the city&#8217;s new urban profile in the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">context of European maritime trade.
