The Winter Olympic Games continue these days in Milan and Cortina, Italy. Athletes from Romania will be participating in new contests this weekend but the best results so far have been the ninth places obtained by Raluca Str\u0103m\u0103turaru and Carmen Manolescu in luge double finals and by Romania\u2019s luge mixed team.<\/p>\n
We move on to football now. Romania has been included in Group B4 of the Nations League, the 2026\/2027 edition together with Poland, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Sweden, after lots were cast in Sweden on Thursday. Kosovo was supposed to be in Sweden\u2019s place, but one of the competition\u2019s rulings says that Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo must not be in the same group.<\/p>\n
The group stage of Romania\u2019s Football Cup ended this week and the sides to play into the quarter finals due on March 4th<\/sup>, have been designated. \u00a0FC Arge\u0219 will be up against second leaguer Gloria Bistri\u021ba; Universitatea Cluj will meet Hermannstadt, Dinamo Bucharest will be playing Metalul Buz\u0103u, also from the second league, while Universitatea Craiova will be up against CFR Cluj.<\/p>\n This weekend will be seeing the matches counting towards the 27th<\/sup> leg of the Romanian Football Superleague. One game on Friday, Petrolul Ploie\u0219ti versus FC Arge\u0219. On Saturday, O\u021belul Gala\u021bi takes on Metaloglobus Bucharest, while on their own ground, Universitatea Cluj plays Csikszereda. Three games on Sunday: UTA versus FC Boto\u0219ani, Farul Constan\u021ba takes on Rapid Bucharest, and Universitatea Craiova will be up against FCSB. The leg\u2019s last matches on Monday, Hermannstadt versus CFR Cluj and Dinamo Bucharest plays Unirea Slobozia. Craiova tops the table with 50 points, followed by Rapid and Dinamo, each with 49 points.<\/p>\n In Rugby Europe Championship, the second continental competition, Romania will be taking on Belgium in Iasi on Sunday. In their first match last Sunday, Romania lost to Germany in Heidelberg, 30- 24.<\/p>\n Two Romanian women\u2019s handball sides will be playing their Hungarian opponents in the Champions League. On Saturday in Group B, CSM Bucharest will be up against Ferencv\u00e0ros, while on Sunday in Group A, Gloria will be meeting Debrecen. Both the Romanian sides are ranking fourth in their groups.<\/p>\n In the EHF European League, group leader Minaur Baia Mare plays at home on Saturday the Norwegian side Larvik. In Group C, another leader Rapid Bucharest, will go to Norway to play Tertnes Bergen.
