As the United States marks the 250th<\/sup> anniversary of American independence this year, ambassador Nirenberg highlighted the enduring importance of freedom, respect for fundamental rights, prosperity and sovereignty as principles that unite the American and Romanian people. The diplomat praised Romania’s growing role as a regional leader in energy security and innovation. He also noted the expansion of cooperation between the USA and Romania in civil nuclear energy, natural gas development and emerging energy technologies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Also on Tuesday, the Romanian Head of State received the Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai M\u00ee\u021bu, for the presentation of his credentials. The president assured him that Moldova remains a major foreign policy priority for Romania, which will continue to provide consistent bilateral support across all relevant levels and mobilize external partners to this end.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Regarding the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, Romania will continue to support the advancement of the accession process and provide technical assistance, including for the transposition of legislation and the integration of the community acquis<\/em>. Another significant area of cooperation between the two countries remains the attraction of foreign investment to the Republic of Moldova, as well as the development of infrastructure and interconnection projects, and increasing the security and resilience of the neighboring state.
