Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean will hold talks on Monday in Bucharest with his Czech counterpart, Lubomir Zaoralek . The two officials will approach issues such as the evolutions at the EU\u2019s eastern border, with an emphasis on Moldova and Ukraine, the Union\u2019s enlargement policy, energy security and increased European cooperation. According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry, high on the meeting\u2019s agenda will be the evolutions in the Middle East. Lubomir Zaoralek\u2019s visit to Romania takes place at important moment of the bilateral relation, as 2014 marks the anniversary of 20 years since he signing of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between Romania and the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n

Four people were reported dead and over 20 injured when a truck caused a pileup on the Egnatia Highway near Thessaloniki, Greece, on Sunday. The highway\u2019s eastbound lanes and vehicles were being diverted over 70 kilometers west of Thessaloniki, when a truck coming up to the diversion point did not slow down and struck a car which caught fire and caromed into the cars in front. The truck was being driven by a Romanian citizen. According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry, the driver has been seized by the Greek authorities.<\/p>\n

A month since the signing of a truce between the Kiev authorities and the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, one of the most heated battles of the six-month war was fought on Sunday, France Press reports. The Romanian Paula Todoran won the 7th edition of the Bucharest International Marathon on Sunday. She ran the 42 kilometres in 2 hours and 41 minutes. In men\u2019s competition, Boaz Kiprono of Kenya won the race in 2 hours and 14 minutes. Almost 9,000 people from 50 countries, among whom 2.000 children, competed in the 7th edition of the Bucharest International Marathon. On this occasion, Romanian athlete Constantina Dita, an Olympic champion in Beijing, in 2008, announced her withdrawal from marathon competition. Constantina Dita, who has been living in the US for the past 12 years, holds the Romanian record in the half marathon, marathon and the 20-km race events.<\/p>\n
