On Wednesday night the Ukrainians were defeated by the Swedish team Malmo, 1-0. This was the 100th match for the Romanian coach. Aged 70, Lucescu remains the Romanian coach with the greatest number of successes at the level of club football teams.
Also on Wednesday, as part of the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain took on Real Madrid on home turf, ending the match in an 0-all draw. FC Viitorul Constanta qualified, Wednesday, to the 2nd leg of the UEFA Youth League, a league of the under -19 national teams. Viitorul Constanta had the upper hand over FC Minsk, of Belarus, defeating them 5-1 in Ovidiu, in the 2nd leg of the first preliminary round. In the first leg the two teams ended the match in a 2-all draw.
Several football teams in the Romanian first league risk losing points following the accumulation of debts. Among them the leader of the league, Astra Giurgiu. The footballers trained by Marius Sumudica have not received their salaries for 4 months and threaten to file complaints with the Romanian Football Federation to have their contracts with Astra cancelled. One of the players asking for the cancellation of the contract is Constantin Budescu, considered the best striker in domestic football. The Romanian Football Federation has become actively involved in fighting discrimination. The Federation’s headquarters hosted Wednesday the seminar entitled “Methods to fight racism through football in Romania”, organized by the Policy Center for Roma and Minorities Foundation. At the meeting it was decided to set up a working group that should draft a strategy, by the end of March 2016, meant to combat discrimination by means of football.
