Romanian team CFR Cluj left the preliminaries of the Champions League. They were eliminated by Swedish side Malmo, nil-1, last week, in Cluj, and on Wednesday 1-1 in Sweden. The Romanian champions played daringly against Malmo. The first half was balanced, with occasions to score for both sides. CFR ended the first half at an advantage, thanks to the 36th minute score by Croat Damjan Djokovic.
Malmo started the second half with an advantage. After assaulting the Cluj goal with a vengeance, the hosts managed in the 55th minute to reestablish equality with the goal scored by Icelander Ingvi Traustason. After they got scored against, the footballers from Cluj started pushing forward. In the 77th minute, however, they were left with 10 players in the field, after Argentinian player Juan Emmanuel Culio got a second yellow card. After being eliminated from the Champions League, CFR Cluj will continue its international course in the third Europa League preliminaries.
The teams trained by Romanian coaches Cosmin Olaroiu and Dan Petrescu won the games they played on Wednesday in the 15th round of the Chinese football championships. Jiangsu Suning, Olaroiu's team, won 1-0 against Henan Jianye. In the rankings, Jiangsu Suning is in fourth place, with 25 points, six points behind headliners Shandong Luneng.
